Vocabulary 

Scourge - Azote, plaga, castigo

Meaning: Someone or something that causes harm, evil, or destruction. 

  • Smallpox, that scourge of previous generations, now is effectively extinct.
  • The World Government sees Monkey D. Luffy as the scourge of their order, constantly disrupting their control.

Stranded – Varado, abandonado

Meaning: Left in a place without any means to leave.

  • After the storm, they were stranded on a deserted island without supplies.
  • When Luffy arrived at Amazon Lily, he was stranded on the island with no way to contact his crew.

Brimming Rebosante, lleno de algo

  • Her eyes were brimming with tears of joy.
  • The chest Nami found was brimming with golden treasures.

Teeming– Lleno de, rebosante de (especialmente con vida o actividad)

Meaning: A place full of people, animals, or activity.

  • The market was teeming with shoppers eager for discounts.
  •  Sabaody Archipelago was teeming with pirates before Admiral Kizaru arrived.

Strewn across – Esparcido por, disperso por

Meaning: Something scattered or spread over an area.

  • Books were strewn across the room after the party.
  • After Blackbeard's attack, debris was strewn across Marineford.

Forfeit – Perder, renunciar a algo (por castigo o decisión propia)

Meaning: To lose or give up something, usually as a penalty. 

Miscreants – Villanos, delincuentes, malhechores

Meaning: Evil people or criminals.

  • The police arrested the miscreants who were robbing the bank.
  • The Marines consider all pirates to be miscreants who must be eliminated

Strive to keep you save – Esforzarse por mantenerte a salvo

To strive is to endeavor, reach, or strain for something above or beyond. We strive for self-improvement, a better world, or success in general.

Meaning: To make a great effort to protect someone.

  • Firefighters strive to keep you safe during emergencies.
  • Zoro always strives to keep Luffy safe, no matter the danger.

Sown  havoc across - Sembrar el caos en/todo

Meaning: To cause destruction or chaos in an area.

  • The storm has sown havoc across the city, destroying houses and streets.
  • Kaido and Big Mom have sown havoc across the New World with their reign of terror.

Great stride - Gran avance, gran progreso

Meaning: A significant achievement or great progress in something.

  • Medicine has made great strides in the fight against diseases.
  • Luffy has made great strides in his training with Rayleigh, improving his Haki.

The so-called – El/la llamado/a, el supuesto/a

Meaning: Used to indicate skepticism or irony about a name or title.

  • His so-called friend betrayed him at the last moment.
  • Akainu mocks the so-called "Pirate Era," saying it will only bring chaos.

Now i am bringing it to one and all Ahora lo traigo para todos

Meaning: A phrase indicating that something is being presented or shared with everyone

  • After years of work, now I am bringing it to one and all with pride.
  • Roger found the One Piece, and before his execution, he said: "Now I am bringing it to one and all: the treasure is real, go find it!
UrchinPícaro, niño callejero (also: erizo de mar, depending on context)

Meaning: A mischievous or poor child who lives on the streets.

  • The young urchin survived by stealing food from the market.
  • Shanks used to call Luffy "urchin" as a joke when he constantly asked him to let him join his crew.

ScrawnyFlacucho, enclenque

Meaning: Very thin, often in an unhealthy or weak way.

  • After weeks of hunger, the stray dog looked scrawny and weak.
  • Before training with Garp, Koby was a scrawny boy with no strength.
